Hurricane Lisa hit Belize head-on the evening of Wednesday 2 November. She didn't stay long, by my goodness did she pack a punch! We remind ourselves constantly it could have been so much worse. Our patients came through unscathed, but the clean-up and repairs have really impacted our monthly budget.
During Hurricane Lisa we lost at least 3 rolls of shade cloth at $450 each, some roofing tin and a lot of important roosting and foraging trees, and our wifi equipment and antenna, The money raised will offset the repair and replacement costs, plus the massive labour costs associated with the clean-up and repairs.
We are hoping to raise the $3800US in actual costs incurred as a result of Hurricane Lisa.
Funds raised through this microproject will help us to rapidly resume full rescue and rehabilitation services for downed or imperilled avian wildlife and our ongoing rehabilitation program for the many parrots liberated from the illegal pet trade.
