The economy of COVID-19 is making it challenging for families to obtain the necessities of life including food. The project will provide food baskets that can feed a whole family of six people for one month. Your donation goes to provide the food baskets, Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation covers the cost associated with the delivering the baskets to the neediest and to hard-to-reach areas in the country.
The UN reports 10 million people are one step away from famine and and an additional 7 million are malnourished. The COVID19 pandemic will have a devastating impact "five years of fighting have degraded the health infrastructure, exhausted people's immune systems and increased acute vulnerabilities." Mark Lowcock, UN Humanitarian Coordinator, warns COVID-19 "could spread faster, more widely and with deadlier consequences than in many other countries."
People with co morbid conditions tend to have severe morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19. Securing food for families will help reduce malnutrition and the resulting infections that impacts people's immune systems. This in turn will reduce the severity of COVID-19 and save lives.
Our services provide families in need live savings services. Food baskets reduce the risk of malnutrition; the water filters protect against diarrheal diseases including cholera; school support equips children in Yemen with the skills they need to make a better future for themselves and to rebuild their country when peace returns. Sponsoring families with orphans ensure that they don't become homeless.
