Greetings, dear friends and donors!
We are very grateful for your generous donations and support to the project of providing urgent nutrition grocery kits to 50 vulnerable orphan HIV positive children in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. This micro project was implemented during the summer during May and June 2023. .
The main objective of this project was to improve the health and immunity of the children who are living with HIV and facing food insecurity and hunger. Each child received a nutrition ration kit two months, which contained essential groceries such as wheat flour, pulses, oil, sugar, salt, spices, milk powder, fruits, and vegetables. The kits were distributed to the children by our staff and volunteers, who also provided counseling and health education to the children and their caregivers. The children expressed their gratitude and happiness for receiving the kits, which helped them cope with the challenges of the pandemic. The project also increased the children’s awareness on timely medical care and hygiene practices.
The main challenge faced by this project was the lack of funding. The project had a goal of raising $3,000 USD through GlobalGiving, but only received $450 USD from 11 donors. This amount was insufficient to cover the cost of the nutrition ration kits for two months, which was estimated at $1,500 USD. Therefore, the project had to rely on other sources of funding, such as local donations to complete the distribution of the kits.
