This micro project will make it possible for P. G. to continue his high school education. With the coronavirus pandemic in Bolivia, all schools are closed and classes are now online. P.G. is a good student and would like to finish high school, but his mother cannot afford the cost of credit for their cellphone to receive P.C.'s assignments and send in his homework. We would like to purchase prepaid phone cards for P.C. and keep him in school.
P.G.'s family had to move around a lot last year with his mother's several operations, so P.G. was not able to attend school. His family is in debt with the medical expenses of his mother, and they do not have the means to pay for the prepaid credit necessary for the cellphone to receive the assignments and send in P.G.s homework. P.G. wants to complete Grade 8 this year.
Helping Hands would like to provide the credit necessary for P.G. to operate his family cellphone in order to receive his assignments and send in his homework each day. The cost per month is approximately $ 36 to keep him connected and he will need this support for 7 months. This way P.G. will not miss another year of school.
With at least a high school education, P.G. will have some of the tools that he needs to find a better paying job when he graduates, and the doors will be open for him to do post-secondary studies as well and learn a profession. Our youth need these opportunities to study as poverty can be very limiting, but education gives them the chance to break the cycle.
