Some medications that have been successfully used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis for decades are now under increased demand to try for COVID-19. This has exacerbated their already limited availability for patients in general and specifically in our Foundation, who rely on them to meet their medical needs. This project will help ensure continued availability of these drugs for the patients who are maintained on them to avoid disability, illness and even death.
Some medications that have been successfully used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis for decades are now under increased demand to try for COVID-19. This has exacerbated their already limited availability for patients in general and specifically in our Foundation, who rely on them to meet their medical needs. Today, we have ran out of many of these drugs and we have not been able to find them in the market or pay them at a higher price.
We will make sure that our patients have timely access to the medications and care upon which they have relied for decades. This microproject will help us guarantee availability of these medications for our patients, much needed to provide them health and life. With your help we will be able to acquire and distribute them among our patients.
The project will attend 100 patients and their families. First of all, patients and families will receive psychological support and a community network upon which they can rely. The physical aspect will be addressed through physiotherapy, nutrition and a rheumatic specialist. In addition, patients will have access to self employment training in order to rebuild and regain their productive life. We hope that in the medium and long term all of these will have an impact on a better quality of life.
