This last Wednesday 6th of March we celebrated our first Eco-Club Awards Ceremony of the year thanks to your support!

We can say the event was a success! From the moment the DAKTARI Team arrived at the school, the volunteers were really committed to making this event a very special one. The Eco-Club students were already getting ready for the ceremony when we arrived, thus, our team joined them and started to decorate the community hall together. Among other ornaments, the room was decorated with the projects the students did for the lessons during these six weeks, and let me tell you, it looked amazing!

During the ceremony the children had to present and explain their work, so they spoke about importance of taking care of the environment, and how to protect the local flora & fauna. Additionally, the students prepared an environmental-themed role play which they exhibited during the event.

The chosen Eco-Club ambassador, Mosibudi, did a speech in the name of the class where she spoke about the structural problems of South Africa, how to make their country a better place, in addition to making a call for action to her peers.

Lydia and Mantsu, amidst the ceremony, asked Ronja if they could make two additional speeches to share with everyone what they had learned during their lessons. They both shared that all together they can make a difference, by both making the change by themselves, and by sharing their knowledge within their community.

Moreover, in recognition of their hard work and inspiration to their classmates, the Leadership Award was given to Thato, the Certificate of Accomplishment was granted to Mosibudi, and the Achievement Award was conferred to Ennocentia.

The Team of DAKTARI would like to deeply share their appreciation to you for your donation, as it allows us to share with the Eco-Club students the importance of the impact they can make. The ceremony is an event they look forward to, as the families attend as well, and they can show them the effort they put in school, even in the voluntary lessons. It really serves as a source of inspiration, and as a final goodbye after six weeks of learning together.
