Eyes of Africa currently rents the PlusOptiX device, incurring costs for each child screened, similar to a data service. This model limits our ability to provide comprehensive vision screenings. Poor vision is a significant barrier to education and employment, and many children in underprivileged areas are unaware of their vision issues or lack funds for corrective measures. These children often fall behind in school, resulting in higher dropout rates and perpetuating the cycle of poverty.
