All of us at Central London Samaritans would like to thank you for your generous donations to our Christmas Appeal. As you probably know Christmas can be such an isolating time and while the outside world seems to be happy and celebrating, many put on a brave face and suffer in silence.
We at Central London Samritans continue to keep open 24/7 throughout this period including Christmas Day. Our volunteers balance their own family demands at this time of year, each of us doing our best to do a shift to ensure that lonely and distressed callers have someone to talk to when they need to. To give you an idea of the increase we experience in December we took 5072 phone calls as opposed to 4114 in November. We responded to 1170 Text messages up from 709 in November. 1165 emails, an increase from 985 and we had 402 visits to our branch from people in need, compared to 316 in November.
So thank you once again for helping us to be there 24/7, 365 days a year, but especially in December when so many more people need our vital service.
