Ukrainian teenagers are facing overwhelming emotional challenges-poverty, abandonment, and now the trauma of war. This project, Finding Steady Ground, will provide practical tools to help them manage stress, cope with loss, and rediscover hope and joy through trusted one-on-one and group sessions in Kamianske, Makariv, Mukachevo, and Uzhhorod.
At any one time, ChildAid supports over 100 vulnerable teenagers in Ukraine-orphans, social orphans, and those displaced by war. These young people are struggling with poverty, broken families, and now the devastating loss of homes and loved ones. Without emotional support, they risk becoming a "lost generation," unable to cope with trauma or envision a future.
Our Finding Steady Ground program equips teens with life-long coping strategies. Through sessions led by trusted mentors, they learn to calm their minds and bodies, understand emotions, focus on what they can control, allow them to find ways to cope with loss, and create space for joy. These practical tools help them regain balance and resilience, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Life's challenges won't disappear, but with these skills, teens can face them with more confidence. Each participant will leave with tools to manage stress and loss, ensuring they can find steady ground again and again - building a generation of resilient, hopeful young people.
