Hearing loss in children goes beyond their ability to talk. It affects their learning, communication & social interaction. Hussain and Hassian are twins with profound deafness. They live with their single mom in a small village in Bangalore Rural. Since they suffer profound hearing loss, giving them hearing aids will not help. Cochlear implants bypass the damaged area and restore hearing. Providing cochlear implants would restore hearing and help them live life to the fullest!
Hussain & Hassain who are twins bubble with activity. If only they can hear and talk, they can achieve their best in life. Though diagnosed with profound deafness at the age of one & fitted with hearing aids, the twins cannot hear a word. Being a single parent and working as a housemaid, their mother cannot afford to pay for a cochlear implant, which would restore their hearing. Since they are already six years old, it is important to provide them cochlear implants at the earliest.
Hussain and Hassian suffer from profound hearing loss that cannot be treated by giving them hearing aids. Cochlear implant surgery is the only way their hearing can be restored. Unfortunately cochlear implants are very expensive and far beyond their reach. This microproject would enable them to raise funds so that they can have the surgery and their hearing restored. This would help them hear, learn, communicate & develop as wholesome productive adults.
Hussain and Hassain will for the first time hear the sounds of their mother. It will be a life-changing "first-time" for them ! The twins would be able to communicate and attend school. With audio therapy, they can improve their hearing, learning and communication skills. They would enable them to be included into mainstream society and become productive members of society.
