This microproject will give 10 rescued Benue girls a safe path away from sex work and re-trafficking. Girls who can return to school will receive full educational support, while those who choose another path will receive vocational training in trades such as hairdressing and tailoring, followed by starter equipment to begin earning an income. The project will help them rebuild their lives with education, skills, and lasting economic independence.
Many girls rescued from human trafficking in Otukpo, Benue State remain at high risk of returning to sex work because they lack education, vocational skills, family support, and a reliable source of income. Poverty, stigma, and limited opportunities leave them vulnerable to re-trafficking and exploitation. Without timely support, many struggle to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term safety and financial stability.
This microproject will provide full educational support for rescued girls who can return to school. Those who choose vocational careers will receive training in trades such as hairdressing and tailoring, followed by starter equipment to begin earning an income. The project will also provide mentoring and regular follow-up to help participants remain safe, build stable livelihoods, and reduce their risk of returning to sex work or being trafficked again.
This microproject will help rescued Benue girls build safe, independent futures through education, vocational skills, and sustainable livelihoods. As participants complete school or start small businesses, their risk of returning to sex work or being trafficked again will decline. They will gain the confidence, knowledge, and financial means to support themselves, strengthen their families, and inspire other girls in their communities to pursue safer opportunities.
