Built in 1994 during the civil war in Kampot, Southwestern Cambodia, our School has been taking care of very vulnerable Children for 3 decades. We also provide Emergency Shelter and Temporary Residence to Children in danger. We work in coordination with the local authorities and our Childsafe Partners, as we are a member of International Childsafe. Now as our building approaches 30 years, we urgently need to r innovate this building, so that we can continue to provide help and care.
Our School provides 24 hour care and support to the most vulnerable of Children, some who have lost parents, whilst others have been abused, neglected, or who are disabled and attend our School for Vocational Training in Khmer Music. For nearly 30 years, we have provided Children with tuition in Traditional Khmer Music, Arts and Scholastic Education. We have a network of Alumni who themselves are successful Musicians, Dancers who work and thrive and have families of their own.
This Microproject will provide our Children who must live longer-term at our School and those who are only with us for a short period, with a safer, better quality, lovely building in which to live and grow. We are one of the only vetted Childsafe Centers in Cambodia who provide complete care for Children at risk. As such we are a point of reference for the whole of Kampot Province. We know that sometimes our care and shelter, has saved Lives.
The 20 Children and Blind Students who stay at KCDI have the possibility to grow in a safe, loving and caring environment. Being at our School, allows them to study scholastic education from primary school to university level, Traditional Cambodian Music, Dance and Theatre, vocational training as Professional Artists or the vocation of choice, helping them prepare for adulthood and giving these young students the only possibility they have of building a future
