The COVID-19 Pandemic continues its devastating impact in Sierra Leone. In addition to businesses closing and lost jobs, it now includes an increased cost for fuel and food. This is making an already challenging situation for families now nearly impossible. This project will help by providing food for families such as bags of rice, cooking oil, etc. We are also providing funds directly to families so they are able to purchase the healthy and perishable food items needed for their daily diet.
COVID-19 is having a crippling effect on the economy in Sierra Leone. The cost of fuel has increased making small business owners pay more to get and transport their food. This has resulted in an increase in inflation and the cost of food. It is now even more difficult for those struggling to support their families to afford a meal - let alone a healthy one. The pandemic has reinforced basic economic inequalities, none more defining than access to food.
This project will provide food assistance to families in need enabling them to stay alive and healthy. Your support will help meet a vital need for survival. With this support, families will be able to use their scarce funds to meet other needs, such as sending kids to school medical, clothing, etc.
This support will help families stay healthy and strong. Lives will be saved from starvation, sickness, and death from the coronavirus. Families will have something to eat - so they will not starve or pass away from hunger. By helping to meet the basic physiological, survival needs (Maslow's hierarchy of needs), the lives of families will be enhanced - as they will be able to focus on other higher needs.
