Dear Project Supporters,
We appreciate your support that has enabled us to provide more families with bed nets. Thanks to your support, ten kids have received mosquito nets and are now sleeping well at night, free from mosquito bites and malaria.
One of the recent beneficiaries pictured in this report, is a boy who lives in the Goderich community. Goderich is a suburb of Freetown and a fishing town. Located on the coast / Atlantic Ocean, it receives a large amount of rainfall each year. This rainfall often accumulates in pools and results in an increase in malaria.
From the half a million people who die annually from malaria worldwide, unfortunately children younger than five years old are the main victims. Less than 10% of children sleep under protective nets in Sierra Leone, where malaria is still a frequent and killer disease. Malaria causes unnecessary sickness, hospitalization and deaths which could easily be prevented. The long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets provide an effective barrier and protection from mosquito bites.
YOUR support is helping to provide bed nets which significantly lower the risk of getting malaria. This risk is further reduced by provided training on the importance of their use. As a result of these interventions, families are healthier and live longer.
Together we are saving lives. Thank you so much for your support!
With great appreciation,
The Develop Africa Team
