Jacinta (23) is a mother of three children; Favour (4 years), Emmanuella (10 months), Manuela (10 months). Her parents died when she was just 17 years old and she was left to take care of her two siblings; William and Clarise. She had to stop school and all of them moved in with her grandmother in a tiny house. In 2012 she got raped by unknown gangs, she discovered that she was pregnant two weeks after the incident.
Despite Jacinta's rape trauma, she has been deserted by friends and family to fend for herself. This plunged her in financial crisis and made her vulnerable. She conceived again, this time it was twins. Jacinta needs to take care of her children and her siblings. The house she is currently staying in can't contain all of them, and three of them need to go to school. With your help Jacinta will be able to send her siblings and children to school and provide appropriate shelter to her family.
Jacinta is moving on. She began working with us this June, and set up a small shop in her locality. She's stable, and the only one with such a business around. But she does not have enough capital to grow to leave extreme poverty, and its also hard for her to save given that she takes care of 5 children. This is her first business and she has proven herself to be constant and able to generate a decent stream of profits. With your help she will grow, and gradually salvage her family from poverty.
During 2 years, we will provide jacinta with 3 business grants and a loan, to gradually lift herself from poverty. On the long run she will be able to provide for herself and family a better living condition. She will find stability and be protected against unwanted sex and pregnancies; she will grow her family only when and if she wants to. After the intervention, with three business grants and continuous follow-up, you can help Jacinta to leave poverty forever.
