Our 6 months path fighting anemia & malnutrition/Nuestro camino a 6 meses vs anemia y desnutricion

Health
Results
- We held 2 workshops for preparing cereal from local seeds, with the communities in San Pedro and San Jeronimo Tulijá.
- We carried out dental health day with the 6 communities. We provided toothbrushes for the whole family and demonstrated the correct way of brushing teeth.
- 90 families sewed seeds provided by IXIM, to grow cucumbers, squash, onions and tomatoes.
- We trained the communities of Capulín and La Fortuna in the maintenance of filters for purifying water which were installed in their houses one and a half years ago.
- We held the first day session this year for detection of and follow-up, focusing on anemia and mal-nutrition. We evaluated the nutrition level of 258 girls, boys and
- youths from the 6 indigenous communities.
- We provided face masks to all the children.
Health and Enviromental wellbeing
Results
- We provided maintenance to the 55 wood-burning stoves in San Pedro Tulijá, San Jeronimo Tulijá, and Guaquitepec, and trained the women to be able to carry out this work themselves every 2 months.
- Held workshops for domestic hygiene with the 6 indigenous communities.
- We distributed seeds for the preparation of home-made cereal (Chilim) for use as a food supplement.
- Delivered “Oni Fórmula “ infant cereal donated by ‘Nutre un Niño A.C.’ for the use of infants under 6 months, as well as children under 6 years of age.
- We installed 33 bases for wood saving stoves in the indigenous communities of Pinabetal, La Fortuna and Capulín.
- We delivered 102 systems for vertical earthworm compost to promote the production of humus and the improvement of the produce from the vegetable gardens or the allotments in the 6 indigenous communities.
- · We installed 50 wood saving stoves in the indigenous communities of La Fortuna, El Capulín, Pinabetal and Guaquitepec.
Social Wellbeing
Results
- We supported the indigenous communities in the design of their internal regulations.
- We held the 3rd. Evaluation of their acquisition of knowledge about the distance learning Training for Life program of the 6 indigenous communities.
- We supplied 123 tablets for the young people who will participate in the distance learning Training for Life – Infants program, starting in April.
- As part of the program Training for life– Infants (Profordvii), we delivered 109 tablets and the first packet of lessons for youths between ages 12 to 18.
- The groups of youths have had their first meetings with the 6 to 11 year olds, to reproduce the teaching they had received. They carried out an activity with games to celebrate Children’s Day, without any direct intervention by the IXIM team.

Nuestro trabajo
- Realizamos 2 talleres para la elaboración de suplemento alimenticio a base de semillas locales, con los colectivos de San Pedro y San Jerónimo Tulijá.
- Llevamos acabo la jornada de salud bucal con los 6 colectivos, entregamos cepillos de dientes para todos los integrantes de la familia y mostramos las técnicas para un correcto cepillado.
- Realizamos talleres de higiene en el hogar con los 6 colectivos para mejorar el ambiente familiar.
- Llevamos acabo la primera jornada del año para la detección y seguimiento focalizado de anemia y desnutrición y valoramos el estado nutricional de 258 niñas, niños y jóvenes de los 6 colectivos que acompañamos.
- Repartimos granos y semillas para la preparación y elaboración del suplemento alimenticio (Chilim) para atender la desnutrición y anemia de los niños que están en estas condiciones de salud.
- Entregamos el suplemento infantil “Oni Fórmula “donado por Nutre a un Niño A.C. para uso de menores de 6 meses, así como para niñas y niños de 6 años.
- Entregamos cubrebocas a mujeres, niños y niñas donados por la empresa Multicopias S.A. de C.V. de la ciudad de Puebla
Bienestar ambiental
Nuestro trabajo
- 90 familias sembraron las semillas que IXIM les entregó para sus huertos familiares, por lo que pudieron cosechar pepino, calabaza, cebolla, cebollín, cilantro, tomate verde y jitomate, entre otros.
- Capacitamos a los colectivos de las comunidades Capulín y La Fortuna en el mantenimiento de los filtros purificadores de agua, instalados hace año y medio en sus hogares.
- Dimos mantenimiento a los 55 fogones de San Pedro Tulijá, San Jerónimo Tulijá y Guaquitepec. Capacitamos a las mujeres para poder realizar esta actividad de manera autónoma y bimestralmente.
- Entregamos 102 sistemas de lombricomposta vertical para impulsar la producción de humus y lixiviado y mejorar las cosechas del huerto familiar o sus parcelas en las 6 comunidades de la Región Selva Lacandona y la Región Tulijá Tseltal Chol.
- Instalamos 50 fogones ahorradores de leña en las comunidades de La Fortuna, El Capulín, Pinabetal y Guaquitepec.
Bienestar Social
Nuestro trabajo
- Apoyamos a los colectivos para diseñar sus reglamentos internos, lo que permite tomar mejores decisiones para resolver los conflictos que se presentan.
- Hicimos la 3ra. evaluación de conocimientos en torno al Programa de Formación a Distancia para la Vida con los 6 colectivos.
- Distribuimos 106 tabletas para jóvenes que participan en el Programa de Formación a Distancia para la Vida y entregamos un primer paquete de lecciones a jóvenes entre 12 y 18 años. Este programa es resultado para niños, niñas y jóvenes, es producto de los buenos resultados del programa para adultos, ahora replicado y adaptado para este grupo de menores.
- Los y las jóvenes realizaron sus primeras reuniones con niñas y niños de 6 a 11 años para trabajar las lecciones diseñadas para ellos; además de actividades con juegos para celebrar el Día del Niño, estas por propia iniciativa sin la intervención de IXIM.
