Hello Everybody.
My name is Deepak Kumar and I am Chairperson of People First.
Festive Greetings to you all.
Well the Global Giving Community came through again. When we started this appeal we needed ten computers to start the much needed computer vocational training at The Averill Centre ( our main headquarters). Now thanks to donations received we are down to needing only six.
We have a graph outside our office wall and we colour it in as we progress towards our target and every donation receives a cheer from our staff and students. Let one of them Pramilla tell you about the value of the training she received,
" Around this area there is not any real facility in any of the public schools to learn computer skills. they do not have computer labs. People first helped and supported me to complete my education but without computer skills and knowledge how can we get a job?
I completed the last course at the The Averill Centre before the computers broke down one by one and I got a government recognised certificate which enabled me to get a good job at a local travel agent. I earn more than anyone in my family and we are no longer below the poverty line. Please help girls like me to transform their lives. Absolutely"
Thank you for all your support,
You can find the appeal here on Global Giving,
