Hi Kind Donors,
My name is Deepak Kumar and I am the chairperson of People First. I would like to let you know the progress regarding our appeal on GlobalGiving for computers so we can restart our very successful computer training programme for Students below the poverty line .
Just to give some details about the actual course on offer. It is run under the syllabus of the National Open School and is called BCA, Basic Computer Applications . It is a qualification valid all over India and it is a huge boost for young people, when applying for employment.
And I would like to let you know about the progress of the appeal on GlobalGiving. The first appeal raised a fantastic $1,606. This is not enough for us to restart the training, but it is great start and thank you so much. So now we need only eight computers to restart the courses .
So the appeal continues on GlobalGiving. I want you to know we have tried so hard to secure the hardware we need from so many sources, If we are successful in gaining any computers donated in kind we will of course either reduce the amount required (as we have already done due to your kind donations received), or if manage to get all eight computers donated we would be able to mark the appeal as funded.
We have to turn away poor students every week who come to our office in the hope that have been able to restart the courses , please help them to be able to study again.
Two students share a computer so we can have two classes of 20, making 40 a day if we had the hardware . We have a policy of admitting 50% female students.
The Trust will meet all other costs, teaching course material and we already have the classroom, sadly empty now.
Please help us fill it again with the sound of learning.
Thank You
Deepak Kumar
