Help Get Asha to her Forever Home!

Summary

Asha is a 6 year old beautiful desi dog. She was rescued off the streets at 10 weeks old after being hit by a car. She was in such bad condition we named her Asha (hope in Hindi) to give her the strength to survive. She came through a leg surgery with flying colors and now runs like the wind. It is nearly impossible to get street dogs adopted in India, although it has improved. Luckily, Asha now has a forever home in Florida waiting for her. Can you help her get there?

Challenge

The amazing street dogs of India need love too. At Dharamsala Animal Rescue, we work hard to find all of our rescues a safe place to live. If we cannot, we keep them with us until we can. We usually have around 15 long-term residents at a time, along with 25 rescues in recovery, and 40 - 80 dogs a month who are here for spay/neuter/vaccination. To prevent overcrowding, we continually search for homes for our dogs. At 6 years old, it is a dream come true that Asha now has a forever home.

Solution

By donating, you will provide Asha all of the paperwork, and health checkups needed to get her to the USA. This also includes, crates, microchips, and her flight on KLM. The new owner has also contributed but Asha needs your help for the rest. How can you resist that face? Also, by helping her get home, we then have a new space for a new animal in need of a safe place to live.

Long-Term Impact

We are hoping as we raise awareness of our work, that we will be able to spread to the surrounding towns and the entire state of Himachal Pradesh. As you move outside of Dharamsala, the conditions severely worsen where there is no one doing this work. The animals are hungry and sick and many. In the past few months there are been some reports of human deaths by rabies in these communities. If we expand, we know that we can humanely control the population of the street dogs and have good results.
