It was another edition of the Child Friendly Space organized by the Hope Alive Foundation in Bona Mayiba at Tollgate-Tiko in the South West Region of Cameroon. The children felt the impact of this exercise that improved their psychosocial status, given that they are victims of the effects of the crisis on going in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon. They have fled their homes of origin to this new area.
The project through your donations, was able to identify and educate 68 internally displaced children around the Bona Mayiba area, six teachers were hired for 3 months and a few gifts bought like soap and toothpaste t to be used as prizes for children. These children have not been to school for the past four years. They received informal education through recreational activities such as rhymes, playbacks, drawing, coloring, painting and music. Some 35 children, who could not read and write before were taught basic literacy thanks to you, and now can catch-up with the rest. In all, the exercise was good but we faced a lot of challenges in accommodating all the children and giving them adequate training since our funds were limited, but Hope Alive Foundation will continue activities in the area, with the support of Reach Out.
