When one girl can stand up for herself, she stands up for all girls. Emihle attends Queens Girls High School in South Africa. She is the second oldest girl in her family. Through the generosity of the Global Giving community, her boarding school fees for the first three years of her high school education have been covered. Help us break the cycle of gender inequality for Emihle, so she can finish high school.
Poor families in South Africa, like Emihle's cannot afford to access quality high schools in South Africa, so children like Emihle, regardless of how clever and upstanding they may be, can only attend non fee paying government schools, which are notoriously under resourced, have poor discipline, ill equipped teachers, a 40:1 learner to teacher ratio, and often drugs and violence. Donating to support Emihle's education means she will be the first person in her family to graduate from high school
Emile attends a quality government girls' school that sees 100% of their girls successfully graduate, able to access higher education. Emihle has been accepted for 2020, and her school fees have been sponsored, however the school cannot support Emihle's boarding fees. Attending this school is an incredible educational opportunity that will change her future, and her family's forever.
Emihle will be the first person in her family to graduate high school and be able to access further education, breaking the cycle of poverty she has grown up in. Her mother is unemployed and her father is a labourer. Emihle lives in a shack in a squatter camp without running water or electricity. By going to a quality high school, in a supported and nurturing boarding environment, she will have the chance to change her future and that of her family's for the better. Help us help her.
