Ella's mom Brooke discovered her husband was sexually abusing Ella earlier this year. We helped Brooke escape from Turkey and get back home safely to the USA with Ella. Unfortunately Ella now has developmental and emotional challenges from the abuse. Children that experience sexual abuse at a young age often have problems that can manifest in drug and alcohol abuse, suicidal tendencies and risky behavior in adolescence. The only thing that Ella responds too are her puppies. She is afraid of men.
Brooke needs to get Ella into a child sexual abuse recovery program. Ella will need to see a counselor weekly for six months. Brooke is a single working mother. Her husband is not paying any child support or alimony. She can't afford the $40 weekly co-pay twenty-six weeks for a total of $1,040 and another $160 for medicine and other out of pocket expenses Brooke may incur for Ella's treatment.
With the proper intervention for Ella, and the trust she is building with her puppies, Brooke is confident that the six months of therapy will help Ella return to her bright, happy, fun-loving self. This project will minimize the long term affects of child sexual abuse for Ella.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
