The border closure and secondary effects (psychosocial, economic) of COVID threaten Junax's existence. At Junax we know that, besides COVID, we have to keep struggling against the permanent pandemic of inequality, violence and poverty, which causes short and long-term effects on vulnerable populations. Your donation helps the fundamental structure of Junax survive, so it can respond to the effects of the "permanent pandemic" when sanitary measures allow it to.
The pandemic makes it impossible for Support Networks to resume their work through universities, collectives, NGOs. The border closure and secondary effects (psychosocial, economic) of COVID threaten Junax's existence, and thus its ability to host ( 6.000 human rights observants in 20 years).
Meanwhile, the Support Networks linked with Junax keep supporting from a distance the population most affected by the permanent pandemic, such as children and adolescents without school or family support, women facing violence and defenders of territory. We reinforce an independent radio, offering verified information to its emissions.
By keeping Junax Volunteer House alive, we will be able to keep reinforcing the work of Support Networks who struggle against the permanent pandemic, with measures and actions focusing on eliminating social inequality; help safeguard human rights; prevent violence against women; fight poverty; promote self-sustained economy and defend territory. The number of social organizations and universities involved in our work will increase. We need to exist, so that volunteers may come to help.
