A new teacher at Casa Kuska community center will let us open two new classes every day, enabling us to reach 24 new students daily! Our innovative workshops make learning fun and help improve the educational outcomes of rural students.
In the rural district of Ollantaytambo, only 20% of primary students and fewer than 10% of secondary school students achieve proficiency in reading and mathematics (ECE 2018/2019). As a result, more and more families are looking for a safe space where their children can keep learning after school. Last year, Casa Kuska recorded 3390 visits. Despite the growing demand, our year-round team consists of only 2 educators, limiting the number of activities we can offer.
With these funds, we can hire another year-round after-school teacher to provide more workshops and small group tutoring in reading and writing. The teacher will provide two classes daily that serve around 12 children each, ensuring that we can improve the quality of education for more children in Ollantaytambo. Our teachers use games to make learning fun and get the children passionate about learning.
By improving our facilities and services we will also strengthen the educational and cultural scene of Ollantaytambo. By providing students, teachers and families with a supportive and enriching environment, we foster their love for learning, enhance their academic skills, and promote cultural development. In the long term, these efforts will contribute to the sustainable growth and development of our community, empowering future generations to thrive and reach their full potential.
