I know I'm going to give birth in the bush. I'm afraid. A lot of people have died in the forest. A friend of mine gave birth to twins there, they are both dead now." "My little girl is always sick, blood shortage". "All our houses were burned down to ashes. Money, property, everything." "My children eat once a day. Plantain chips and oil." "Sometimes we just starve. Even the children." 200,000+ people are estimated to have fled from their villages in the South-West Region of Cameroon.
A conflict between the Cameroonian Government and separatist forces are growing in intensity. In the middle, innocent people are losing everything. Indiscriminate military raids have burned more than 70 villages since January 2018. Displaced people flee first to the forest and urban centers. Very large families (20,30 people) are staying together in tiny houses, with limited access to water, food, and healthcare. [More details in the pictures]
This project will support 60 displaced families fleeing from armed conflict in the South-West Region of Cameroon. Your donation will help provide emergency expenditures such as feeding and healthcare. For as little as 120$, you can give a second chance to a family that has lost everything.
By being the safety net of these families you are mitigating the devastating effects of war. Right now, 65% of sick children are not going to the hospital among the displaced populations, and malaria incidence is more than 70% among those who have been consulted, threatening to become a pandemic. They have suffered enough and if we don't do anything it will get worse.
