The dream of Kafumu youth Development group was initially born in the mind of 12 youths in 2015 who dropped out of school due to lack of school fees, the 12 youth aged between 20 to 35 years form this group. It is the vision of Kafumu youth Development group to develop a self supporting association through piggery farming in Uganda. This project will help them establish a pig sty(house) buy additional high breed pigs and other materials needed for the project establishment
Over 200 youth who finish school or those who drop out of school are un able to set up their own income generating projects in rural Uganda, this has increased on the number of un employed youth in the District, its unfortunate most of the youth who finish school start looking for jobs which are very limited
It is anticipated that the project will boost the incomes of the youth in the community, as they will be able to learn modern methods of farming, will be trainers of others piggery farmers in the area as they will be able to receive several training in piggery farming, book keeping and many more. The youth are very positive in contributing to this project; they have already 04 local piglets, they are willing to contribute labour for the building of the sties
Mountains of Hope in collaboration with the veterinary officer will build capacities of the group in the management of the project including record keeping and financial management. The project is initiated by the youth and the same members are involved in management, this level of involvement and participation of the group members is expected to enhance sustainability.
