Dear *{{First Name}}*,

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. It is near and dear to my heart.

When I first went to India, my goal was to volunteer with women and try to teach computer skills. However, on that trip, the women were in the fields reaping wheat, I ended up volunteering in a pre-school, and then being moved to action after seeing the amount and condition of the dogs on the street.

When DAR first started, we could only find men to work for us. Back then, it was still a job no one would take because working with street dogs was looked down upon. Over the years, we worked to get more women to work at DAR. I noticed it was the women who were calling in about the rescues, feeding the street animals, and showing compassion. We then convinced many to work for us - and DAR was changed forever.

Today, with 50% of our staff women, including our Director and one of our vets, I am beyond elated. Your donations help provide life-changing roles for these women. Just this past month, Shivu got married. Much of the time women from villages in India are no longer allowed to work when they marry. They become help for their in-laws. But as you can see, Shivu is holding her rescue pup Scooby while in her traditional wedding dress. I think that says it all!

Empowered employees create a better environment for our animals! If you can, please consider becoming a monthly donor - the best way to sustain our work.

With gratitude,

Deb Jarrett - Founder and Executive Director
