Project Report | Oct 14, 2014
A mind blowing story

By James Malinga | Project leader

Hi

OK. Here's the report:

Thanks for donating towards our teenage girls sanitary pads initiative, am hoping that you have been receiving community updates from us on the progress of the project, however, we distributed sanitary pads to 70 school girls and 08 community women, when women came with their children, they told us that they also missed valuable work in their community due to lack of sanitary pads, at the moment we have more pads in store that will be distributed next year, thanks for supporting us.

Mountains of Hope has got another great project on that is worth supporting. We have planned to train 50 mothers on best feeding practices of children 0-59 months to reduce mortality rates in the community we work with.

According to our survey, 58% of the households said they were un able to feed their children on a balanced diet. After the training and provision of nutritious food, the whole care givers will be able to practice good infant feeding practices including breast feeding.

I have just been discussing with the Government Health officials on the nutrition day training, it’s wonderful, they are set to carry out the training, the community has been mobilized, the donations are coming in from Globalgiving donors, that’s great!, "am glad many children will be healthy again in my community, perhaps infant mortality rates will reduce" says chairman local council one of Kafumu village. "I almost lost my son, I didn’t know it was malnutrition, I thought it was withcraft, but when this organization sensitized my village on nutrition, I have started giving my children balanced diet" a mother of three quoted.

We have so far raised $280 from Globalgiving donors, we still have a balance of $800. However there is an opportunity Globalgiving is offering for organizations raising money on their site, all donations given on 15th October will be multiplied, here is how it goes:

Globalgiving is offering a 30% match on all donations up to $1,000 per donor per project, while funds remain. There is $75,000 available in matching and matching begins at 9:00 a.m. EDT and lasts until funds run out or 11:59 p.m. EDT.  There is also $2,000 in bonus prizes available!

We need about $ 800 in these last few hours to reach our goal. Just imagine your donation multiplying by 30%

Can we do it? I believe so.

And you only have a few hours left to make sure malnourished children in Uganda survive and live life to its fullness.

Only a few hours left to give a child a gift of health  and offer knowledge to mothers on best feeding their children.

Will we meet our goal on 15th October?

I’m counting on you!

Sometimes you run into a creative project that blows your mind like this one!
