Art and entrepreneurship can be a powerful engagement tool for teens. The opportunity to bring a project to life can significantly impact the trajectory of student's development. Learning skills to activate your talents can make the difference in being engaged and productive citizen or not caring about what happens next. We want our kids to invest in themselves and create a wearable identity that spreads a positive message across the community... one t-shirt at a time.
Students have a desire to share their creative talent and need to be better prepared for the workforce. Through entrepreneurship education, teens can become better prepared for post secondary education, develop workforce readiness skills and learn how art and great design are critical to future business development.
Connecting teens with local artists begins to establish a pathway for using creative strengths. And provides an opportunity to visualize impact of art as a creative element that enhances academic engagement as well as employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Teens will partner with slam poetry participants and complete entrepreneurship curriculum, developing a graphic design shop that produces t-shirts.
Teens develop entrepreneurial skills and get an opportunity to engage in an incubator environment. Students will become more engaged in school, develop a career pathway, graduate from high school then enroll in some level of post-secondary education that will lead to employment and/or business development. 200 teens will participate. Awards will be given to top three teams determined by a panel of judges comprised of business and community leaders, enterpreneurs and investors.
