The initiative's goal is to create a learning center with a library in the earthquake-stricken Chhededaha Rural Municipality in Nepal's far-western province. Children of all ages will be able to use the center daily, both before and after school. The project will offer services like group and individual counseling, as well as on-site psychosocial support, to help with various mental health concerns, such as anxiety, behavioral shifts, and emotional turmoil.
In the aftermath of a disaster, adults typically focus on reconstructing their homes. Meanwhile, children find it difficult to concentrate on their studies in temporary school settings, given the turmoil in their personal lives, which can impede their growth. This initiative seeks to assist around 4,000 children in Nepal's Bajura district villages by 'establishing 5 learning centres with a library,' catering to those impacted by the earthquakes on January 24 and October 2, 2023.
Console Mission (CoMi) is committed to driving change, empowering individuals to distinguish between right and wrong, and guiding their journey. CoMi's goal is to influence 460 geographical areas, encompassing 61 percent of Nepal by 2030. Bajura, with its five rural municipalities, offers a chance for extensive outreach. At the same time, CoMi's initiative will address challenges arising from the earthquake and aid in the development and education of children.
Through five learning centers, children affected by earthquakes will receive support for their ongoing education, which faces challenges due to the scarcity of colleges and limited program options. Recognizing this grim prospect, many children discontinue their schooling. Earthquakes frequently result in higher school dropout rates. Nevertheless, this initiative strives to counteract this trend by spreading awareness of scholarships provided by charities, enterprises, and the government.
