This project will provide a year of safe housing for thirteen year old Wilson. Wilson was brought to the HTDC orphanage by his grandparents. They made the difficult choice to give him up because they couldn't afford to feed or educate him, and they wanted him to have a bright future. Wilson is a very bright child, and works really hard in school. But without the orphanage to keep him safe, Wilson would be forced to fend for himself as a street-kid.
As an orphan, Wilson is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for his basic needs. This means that, without your help, Wilson would be a homeless street-kid, leaving him vulnerable to exploitation and destined to a life of suffering and poverty.
By donating today, you'll help us provide the home Wilson needs to stay safe and to grow up with a fighting chance. You'll also help us provide caregivers to look after Wilson, and ensure he has access to water and electricity. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Wilson's share of the costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
A safe home and care are essential for every child. By providing these for Wilson, you're giving him the foundations he needs to build a bright future.
