More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Rose, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Rose can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help her develop the skills she needs to find gainful employment. Rose will also use her English skills to help her community through her work with local orphanages and her church.
Your donations will give Rose the means to support herself and her family into the future. This will let her escape poverty for good.
