This project will provide a year of safe housing for fifteen year old Rose. Rose was brought to the HTDC orphanage by the police because she was mistreated by a family member and couldn't live with them any longer. This was very hard on Rose but she adjusted well and she's now a big help with looking after the younger kids at the orphanage. Rose deserves a good life, but without the orphanage to keep her safe, Rose would be forced to fend for herself as a street-kid.
As an orphan, Rose is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for her basic needs. This means that, without your help, Rose would be a homeless street-kid, leaving her vulnerable to further exploitation and destined to a life of suffering and poverty.
By donating today, you'll help us to keep renting the home Rose needs to stay safe and to grow up with a fighting chance. You'll also help us provide caregivers to look after Rose and also ensure that she has access to water and electricity. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Rose's share of the costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
A safe home and care are essential for every child. By providing these for Rose, you're giving her the foundations she needs to build a bright future.
