This project will provide a year of safe housing for 13 year old Nolky. Nolky is one of eight children. His mom is assumed to have died in the 2010 earthquake, and his father is unable to care for the family. So, he was forced to leave his three youngest at the HTDC orphanage. Nolky is one of the orphanage's most responsible kids, and he enjoys hugs with his brothers and sisters. But without the orphanage to keep him safe, Nolky would be forced to fend for himself as a street-kid.
As an orphan, Nolky is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for his basic needs. This means that, without your help, Nolky would be a homeless street-kid, leaving him vulnerable to exploitation and destined to a life of suffering and poverty.
By donating today, you'll help us provide the home Nolky needs to stay safe and to grow up with a fighting chance. You'll also help us provide caregivers to look after Nolky and ensure he has access to water and electricity. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Nolky's share of the costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
A safe home and care are essential for every child. By providing these for Nolky, you're giving him the foundations he needs to build a bright future.
