This project will help girls and women in northern Nigeria gain access to education, understand their legal rights, and build secure futures. Many are denied schooling, land, inheritance, and the freedom to make decisions about their lives. Widows may be forced from their homes after their husbands die, leaving them and their children homeless or begging for survival. The project will provide education, rights awareness, legal support, and livelihood training.
Many women in northern Nigeria never attended primary school because girls' education was considered unnecessary or unaffordable. Without basic literacy and numeracy skills, they struggle to find work, understand their rights, manage money, own property, or support their children. Widows may lose their homes and inheritance after their husbands die. This project will fully fund Primary 1-6 education for 50 women, including uniforms, writing materials, sandals, and transport.
This project will enrol 50 women in fully funded primary education from Primary 1 to Primary 6. It will cover school fees, uniforms, writing materials, sandals, and transport. The women will learn to read, write, calculate, manage money, understand their rights, and pursue better work opportunities. They will also receive guidance on property and inheritance rights to help protect themselves and their children.
Educating 50 women will help break generations of illiteracy and poverty. Graduates will have better chances of finding work, starting small businesses, managing their finances, and defending their property and inheritance rights. Educated mothers are also more likely to enrol their children in school and support their learning. This can reduce dependence, homelessness, child marriage, street begging, and the exclusion of women from family and community decisions.
