Mosquito prone diseases have become so common and fatal now-a-days for which all over spread garbage-waste and polluted water are the major reason and the problem is more acute in rural areas. In the lack of awareness, rural people throw garbage and waste in the surroundings where mosquitoes breed and grow vigorously. They don't even think that they inadvertently invite fatal diseases.
Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan, with the financial support of GlobalGiving Foundation, organized an awareness program in mosquitoes affected 2 rural areas in Pisangan block. In the awareness program, mosquito nets were distributed to 25 families whose surroundings were populated with mosquitoes. The beneficiary families will have sound sleep with the use of mosquito nets and keep themselves safe from the rage of mosquitoes. Workshops were also held in 2 distant villages during the awareness program in which more than 110 localites participated. In the workshop, the rural community was made aware of cleanliness and informed them about the harmful effects of mosquito prone diseases and their remedy. The auience listened to our activists carefully and got the information.
At the completion of the workshop, the organization conducted a cleanliness program in the project area in which local community contributed with excitement. The surroundings were made clean by removing the garbage-waste and filled the pit of dirty water to prevent mosquitoes to grow. Roads, streets and drainages were made clean to make the surroundings unfavourable for mosquitoes for which the local community appreciated Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan and supported the cleanliness program. Our activists swore the rural people to keep their surroundings clean and not to spread garbage-waste.
In the cleanliness program, our activitsts met with a teenage boy resides at the project area.
The boy told that the localites being unawared throw waste and garbage here and there in the surroundings which was gradually transformed into a heap of waste which is most favourable for mosquitoes to breed. The heap of waste made the surroundings polluted and it did stink due to which passer-by had to deal with effluvia. In rainy season, water started stagnated which blocked the passage and the situation became worst. It was the first time when Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan (better to say that anyone) organized a cleanliness campaign in the area which made the surroundings neat & clean and get the local community rid of fatal diseases. The boy thanked Rajasthan Samgrah Kalyan Sansthan and GlobalGiving Foundation on the behalf of all the residents.
