This project will provide a year of English Education for Jure. Jure has now been studying at the English in Mind (EIM) Institute for several years. His high level of English and calm manner make him a popular study mate. Jure will use his language skills to find dignified, living wage employment - but he can't afford to pay for his own school. That's why he needs donors like you!
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Jure, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
Your donations will help support EIM's running costs, so all that Jure has to bring is his text-book and hunger for knowledge. By ensuring that Jure can continue studying English at the English in Mind Institute, you'll help him develop the skills he needs to find dignified, secure employment.
Your donations will give Jure the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
