This project will provide a year of English Education for Emmanuel. Emmanuel enrolled at the English in Mind (EIM) Institute as an Intermediate student in 2015. His big smile and warm personality, along with his hard work ethic, quickly made him a favorite among students and teachers alike. Emmanuel will use his language skills to find dignified, living wage employment - but he can't afford to pay for his own school. That's why he needs donors like you!
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment, and more than 50% of the population lives on around $2 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port-au-Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, but English schools are usually very expensive. Most Haitians, including Emmanuel, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
Your donations will help support EIM's running costs, so all that Emmanuel has to bring is his text-book and hunger for knowledge. By ensuring that Emmanuel can continue studying English at the English in Mind Institute, you'll help him develop the skills he needs to find better, more secure employment.
Your donations will give Emmanuel the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
