This project will provide a year of safe housing for Christelle. Christelle isn't sure how old she is - we think she's around 13. Christelle's dad was forced to abandon her after her mom left and he couldn't afford to care for her anymore. Christelle was sick and malnourished when she arrived at the orphanage, but now she looks forward to tomorrow. Yet without the orphanage to keep her safe, Christelle would be forced to fend for herself as a street-kid.
As an orphan, Christelle is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for her basic needs. This means that, without your help, Christelle would be a homeless street-kid, leaving her vulnerable to exploitation and destined to a life of suffering and poverty.
