This project will build a second boarding facility for 40 vulnerable girls at Roko 20 Academy, a primary school providing children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a free education. The dormitory will provide the girls with a safe place to study on their education, free from abuse and neglect.
A significant number of our sponsored pupils are suffering from neglect. Some girls are at risk from abuse at home. Parents are struggling to provide just one meal a day. At home girls are responsible for cooking, cleaning and taking care of younger siblings. There is no time for homework. Academic performance is adversely affected due to their living conditions. This project will accommodate 40 sponsored girls at the Girls Dormitory.
The Girls Dormitory will provide a safe space for girls to focus on their studies and reach their full potential. Free from trauma and abuse, they will receive regular meals at school as well as emotional guidance, support and extra tuition from their Matron. This will help them to improve on their school work.
The project will support 40 girls long term with improvements in the following areas: academic performance , confidence, interpersonal relationships, time management, cleanliness, discipline and health.
