This support will provide a motorbike for Fridays for Future Sierra Leone staff to improve access to remote communities of the Makokoday Village, where we lead environmental training for 200 women and youth. With poor road networks and limited transportation, our team faces serious challenges in monitoring, supporting, and expanding conservation efforts. The motorbike will enable us to conduct regular follow-ups, deliver training materials, and empower women to protect nature.
Help Us Reach Remote Communities: A Motorbike for Women-Led Conservation in Sierra Leone In the heart of Sierra Leone, Fridays for Future Sierra Leone, in partnership with Women for Conservation, is transforming rural communities through grassroots conservation. From planting trees and managing plastic waste to promoting family planning and land stewardship, our work empowers women and protects nature.
In 2023 and 2024, our conservation workshops in Manor Corner and Makokoday Village trained 200 women and children, sparking life-changing environmental awareness and action. These women are now leaders in their communities, sharing knowledge and inspiring others. But there's a challenge holding us back: mobility. Our team struggles to reach rural communities without reliable transportation for training, follow-up, and monitoring. A motorbike will allow the team to reach the site and the women
This project creates a sustainable future for Sierra Leone by restoring habitats, mitigating climate change, and empowering women and girls. By providing conservation training and healthcare resources, we improve community health, plant thousands of fruit trees annually, and support women's equality. Together, we can build a greener, healthier future for all. Join us in driving change-one mile, one village, and one woman at a time.
