Gaza-Israel: Protect girls now

More than 4,000 children have now lost their lives due to the crisis in Gaza and Israel. Thank you for your support in helping us scale up our humanitarian response.

With each day that passes, more and more children are losing their lives — in horrific ways — due to violence in Gaza and Israel. Plan International is scaling up our response right now, working with a partner in Gaza to provide immediate relief for children, as well as in neighboring countries where Plan works: Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan.

In Lebanon, cross-border tensions with Israel are increasing — rocket fires and missiles are driving almost 30,000 people to flee from home (this number is likely even higher — many people don’t register themselves as internally displaced). And, Lebanon is already home to almost 500,000 Palestinian refugees.

 Girls across the Middle East are especially terrified, knowing that they are often targeted with sexual violence during crises like this.

Here’s how Plan is responding right now:

—    Working to support the Egyptian Red Crescent, which is providing aid in Gaza like first aid kits, food and water.

—    Providing emergency cash assistance to help displaced families in Lebanon to meet their most immediate needs.

—    Supporting safe shelters in Lebanon to keep girls and their families protected, and distributing essentials like food supplies, mattresses, blankets, hygiene kits, menstrual health kits and baby kits for mothers.

—    Providing mental health support for children experiencing trauma in Lebanon.
