With the generous support of The Brighton Kop, this project will form and equip a boys football team at the Centre for Youth Driven Development Initiatives. Players will be roughly 16-18 years of age and there will be 15 players in the team. Donations will be used to buy kits and equipment as well as funding the team to take part in a local league for one season.
The Centre for Youth Driven Development Initiatives (CFYDDI) is a charity based in Nangabo, central Uganda. At CFYDDI we enrich and improve the lives of local people, particularly young men and women, by providing opportunities to engage with projects around education, health, employment and sports. Working from a community centre and public library, we already have an established netball team which enables local young women to participate in a local league and now we need a football team
We will form a 15-man team called 'Nangabo Kopites FC'. In addition to equipping them with kits and practice equipment we will enrol them in a local junior league for a season and provide them with the inexpensive transport and refreshments required to take them to victory. Donations of any amount are welcome. Below is a guide to what your donation could fund in pounds: 2 - Refreshments for a match 5 - Match ball for the team 10 - Travel for the team to a match 20 - Kit for a player
As we work together to push back the HIV/AIDS epidemic we are actively working with UNAIDS to use fixtures as an opportunity to share safe sex messages and distribute condoms under the campaign 'Protect Your Goal'. It is our dream that with the necessary support and guidance they will be the future champions of Wakiso! As the team develops we can't wait to share their stories and match reports, along with some photos of the players in action!
