On average there are 130 suicides a day. In the US, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death and worldwide one person every 40 seconds takes their life. Connection is one of our fundamental human needs and it affects our mental health, physical health, and longevity. We can help to prevent suicide through outreach and connection to our family, friends, and community. September is suicide awareness month.It is an opportunity to highlight the challenges, offer hope and support to those in need.

Give an Hour will provide no-cost suicide training webinars and resources to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to reach the military population; University of Phoenix to education young military and students, the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes; and the Junior Chamber Congress International to reach young professionals. This project will help people to identify potential suicide risks, provide access to care to reduce the suicide rate in the U.S. Our goal is to raise $5000 from September 1st to October 31st to support our Suicide Awareness program. $19 covers the cost of providing one hour of counseling $228 allows Give an Hour to provide three months of counseling $1500 pays for one month of Website Donate.
