Thank you for supporting a destitute woman through GlobalGiving. The success story of destitute elderly woman, who have lost every thing and getting nutritious meals from SERUDS meals centre.
Background of the destitute elderly person:
Mrs.S.Chittemma aged 66years
W/o.S.Govindu (Late)
Budhavarapeta, Kurnool – 518 002, Andhra Pradesh
She belongs to Scheduled Caste (Dalit) Community living in Kurnool Urban Slum. She had 3 sons namely
1. Srinivasulu (eldest one)
He got married with Ms.Laxmidevi who belongs to Alampur village and blessed with 2 children Narasamma and Narasimhulu.
Srinivasulu attempted suicide with Kirosene oil and was burnt and died. Wife Laxmi Devi got tongue cancer and died at the early age of children Narasamma (2yrs) and Narasimhulu (3Months). Now the ages of Narasamma are 15yrs and Narasimhulu is 13yrs.
Narasamma studying 10th class in Indira Gandhi Memorial High school, A.Camp, Beside District Collectorate office, Kurnool. Narasamma getting regular educational support from SERUDS. The educational Support includes school fees, Uniforms, Notebooks, writing pad, geometry box, pencils, pens, Tiffin Box, Shoes, School bag, etc.
Narasimhulu going to the construction labour work to feed her sister and grand mother. He goes to the construction work wherever the mason allots the work. He earns Rs.150/- per day for this vocation. He dropped out from studies from the school because of this poverty, starvation in the family. When he suffer from the fever his grand mother goes to the near by houses for begging. By doing this she feed her grand children.
2. Venkateshwarlu (elder one)
He was an illiterate was doing daily wage labour work in market yard. He used to earn Rs.100/- per day. He was asset to the family. He got jaundice and due to blind belief he was taken traditional medicine and got reaction and passed away.
3. Narasimha (younger one)
He was younger son and illiterate. He was cleaner for tractor and met with an accident in the year 1993 and passed away.
S.Chittemma strugling a lot to feed herself and children. Now she is getting meals regularly every day at SERUDS Old People centre. Now she is happy that SERUDS is providing some possible extendable meal support to her. Now her health levels have been increased.
She suffers a lot for the clothing for her and 2 grand children. As part of our regular programs, we provide personal belongings and clothing to the destitute elderly persons.
With your kind generous donations we have been providing nutritious meals include steamed cooked rice, Taar Dhal, Fresh Vegetable Curry, Yellow Rice, Pulihora, Seasonal Pickle, Curd, Rasam, Chutney apart from this we have been providing Saree, Blouse, Sweater, Winter Blanket, Regular blankets, Chappal, Bathing Soaps, Detergent Soaps, Biscuits, Tooth Paste, Brush, Comb, etc. This Food Sponsorship is for one year from September 2014.
