Hello everyone!
Today I am very happy to write you about the success of our food bag donation program. In the last months we have given away more than 2000 food bags – each containing food supplies that last for about one week for each woman. The need is still big and currently we are continuing with giving out food bags every Friday. Women that contact us, get an invitation and they can come on Fridays to our Hair Salon in Soi 6, the middle of the Red-light District and pick up the food.
The situation in the country is still not good. Even though we have had no new cases for about a month now, the restrictions are still severe, and no Tourists are allowed to come in. At the beginning of July, the Entertainment Industry was allowed to open again, and the bars opened. This brought many of the women from Issan back to Pattaya, just to find out, that there is no work. The Bars are full of girls – much more women than before – but there are no customers. Many of the Bars are also no paying salaries anymore but only do commission – which is bad when there are no customers. Now the women sit for 12 hours in the bars and get no money in the end for it…
We received a phone call from a woman that said the following: Can you please help us again with food? We have worked for the last 11 days in our Bar and did not have a single customer coming in even for a drink. We have nothing anymore; can we please have some more rice and fish and sauce? We arranged to meet with them at a supermarket, as it was the weekend, and bought them some needed supplies. They were overwhelmed and some of them could not stop crying.
We are also trying to encourage the women to look for other jobs. We have started on the 3rd of July the next three-month long Tamar Vocational and Life Training and 13 women have moved in with us and are taking part. We are hoping that the new skills that they will learn will help them to find better and safer jobs.
Thank you again for helping us with your donation. Have a look at the attached pictures and you will see how happy you have made the different people!
