When the Covid Crisis hit Pattaya all Businesses where shut down. Because of this thousands of women who worked in the Bar scene, in Massage and were Freelancers lost their jobs and many also their housing. We want to help in this crisis by continuing to hand out food back with basic food supplies that last for about one week to the women in need here in the City. We distribute through our Center in the middle of the Redlight District and also offer counseling to the women.
In the moment this will help the women to eat. There is no governmental help for them, as they were never officially employed and the situation is desperate. Also, through the counseling want to offer the women help and encourage them to change jobs and to start training programs that we also offer.
We have already given out about 800 food packs in the last weeks. The job in the eyes of the women when they look through the bags, when they find the masks, snacks and food is amazing. Many of tears in their eyes - it is very hard to see the desperation that is there. Many women have no savings and so the stop of the Tourism Industry here was a very hard awakening for them. With the project we are planning to pack another 200 bags to last 200 women for one week.
Our goal for the women is to leave Pattaya, maybe return to their families and to have a normal life outside of the sex industry. We will train the women job skills and help them to find employment or help them to start their own small business so that they can provide for themselves and their children. Also, when they return to their families, they will help to prevent other young girls and boys to start a work in the sex industry.
