We'll be providing 60 days of food to 24 elderly and isolated low income people in Kennington and Vauxhall over the next 12 weeks who do not have any kin or support. Each day we will bring them a hot home cooked meal, made from organic vegetables and cruelty free meat alongside some healthy snacks and check in on them to see how they're doing. This will enable them to eat well and stay healthy while in quarantine, whilst also reducing the social isolation that this period will bring.
This will prevent the most vulnerable and elderly in London from going hungry during the pandemic.
BPK provides healthy home cooked food. By providing a delivery service we can ensure this food is getting to the people who need it the most at this time. Elderly people are the most at risk of malnutrition in the best of times. Now that they will be unable to go out we will ensure that they get the nutrition they need. Along with a friendly face each day.
We will be supporting local people with work during this period along with linking elderly people with other online methods of staying in contact with the outside. We prevent food waste, saving food from landfills and diverting it to hungry mouths and bellies. We will be cooking for around 25 people a week and with continued funding we'll expand our programming to reach more.
Every microproject is intended to use the donations it receives in accordance with its stated description; however, it is important to provide project leaders with the flexibility to maximize the potential benefit from the donations they receive. This means that your donation may be used as a part of the main project that supports this microproject, specifically Brixton People's Kitchen. In this event, the project leader is required to post an update to the microproject detailing the results and reasons behind this change.
If you or any other donor is unhappy with the way their funds have been used, he or she can reallocate their donation using the GlobalGiving guarantee.
