Imagine yourself arriving at the sanctuary at sunrise. No sooner do you walk into the barn than this crew starts baa-ing at you to hurry up and fix breakfast! The cow who followed you into the barn is mooing loudly into your ear. In the coops, chickens, ducks, geese, and guineafowl are all squawking and yammering for you to open the doors and distribute buckets of scratch feed, pellets, and sunflower seeds.
This is a true story, it happens every day, and — thanks to you! -- it has a happy ending. Our volunteers and staff members might not be able to move as magically quickly as our nonhuman community members might like, but everybody gets fed in due time. Nobody ever goes hungry!
Our campaign to fill the feeders for the season didn't raise as much as we'd hoped, but did ensure that we were able to pay the hay bills and make our weekly runs to the feed store.
We're so grateful to everyone who donated! We know that there are so many worthy nonprofits needing help these days. It means so much to have your support as we struggle to cover our own costs!
We'd be here all day if I tried to list all of the animals your donation helped to feed: Hundreds of chickens and pigeons! Scores of ducks and geese! Dozens of goats and sheep! 36 cows! One extra-special alpaca! I've attached a few pix, just to give you an idea.
So... THANK YOU AGAIN! And, if you feel moved to give a little bit more, we'll be triply grateful. We're already looking ahead to fall and winter, when everybody needs more calories each day to stay warm.
