Thanks to our donors, Child Protection Week at Lesedi la Batho Community Centre was a busy one this year! The nationally recognised week commemmorates the rights, but also the plight, of children across our country.
We believe that knowledge is power, and providing positive education for our community is a core activity of the upliftment work we do. Child-headed households joined us at our centre for a support group; a safe space to motivate them and allow them to share their experiences amongst each other. The session rounded off with sandwiches and coffee, and each child went home with a food hamper for their families.
The Ratanang Day Care Centre, an on-site project of our nonprofit, hosted their own party for the precious little ones in their care. The kids were treated to hotdogs and snack packs - and festive party hats! Parents joined us for a fruitful session with our care givers, discussing how we can work together to protect, educate and love our innocent children.
In the words from one of the day's activities... "Respect, protect, support, love and take care of us!" - South African children
May we all work together to give children the life they deserve, all year round!
